I didn’t get a grant I applied for. That one was a bummer but it wasn’t something I’d really counted on getting and I’m sure the recipients are all very deserving! Finally, none of my 3 QuiltCon 2026 submissions were accepted to hang. This one stung, too - I put a project on the back burner to push through and complete State of Renewal for the Member Challenge. In hindsight, I wonder if I should have kept at the other project & if it would have gotten in. There’s always next year! Here’s my throw using the Parkdale Patina print for Color A and Kona Ivory for the background. I went with radiating diamond quilting again in two quadrants. I had originally planned to do two more, but I got antsy halfway through and opted instead to do the remaining quadrants with some radiating curved lines. I made a paper template of the shape and used it to cut out pieces of batting just about the same size & shape - just a smidge smaller all around. Then, using water soluble thread in the needle and regular thread in the bobbin (it will be hidden inside the quilt, but a light neutral is a good choice), I sewed those pieces to the wrong side of the fabric, right under the darkest hexagons.
